The Wild Cats will need to replace 2x PIAA qualifier and place winner Tyler Buckwalter as well as former PIAA finalist and multiple time state placer at 285 Zach Corl.  Also lost to graduation are solid performers Logan Struble and Troy Rupert.  Brian Brill 2x region champion will look to repeat as state champion, but at what weight class?  Joey Miller was a state qualifier last year and Dillon Gavlock will look to punch his ticket in his final season.  CM has a host of returning starters including Blaze Buckwalter, Nathaniel Powers, Logan Bechdel, and Zach Knepp all capable of wrestling at the Giant Center.  A handful of junior high standouts may be asked to step-up, most notably Gavin Caprio, Keanan Bottorf, David Kohen, and Chase Andrus.

McDowell 10 Shane McChesney

106 Benji Yates 9 or Chris Rison 11

113 Paul Deitz 11

120 Coleman Cousins 10

126 Nick Gibson  11

132 Shawn Spearman 10

138 Steve Spearman  12

145 Cody Nolan  11

152 Kenny Rogers  12

182 Khlique Harris  12

195 Anthony Forne  12

220 Kevin Kozuchowski 11

285 Scott Augustine  10 or Anthony Szymczak  12

McDowell returns a solid core, but must replace 5 three and four year starters in Mike Vollant, Ryan Kenski, Mike Weissinger, Dylan Matz, and Tyler Covato.  The Spearman brothers will headline the Trojan line-up.  Steve Spearman will look bounce back after a shocking end to his junior season with another state championship.  Shawn Spearman hopes to improve on last years state qualifying performance by winning his first PIAA medal.  Khlique Harris returns after a season at Central Tech that saw him win a D-10 title and finish 4th at Regionals splitting matches with Geno Morelli, DuBois.  Also back are 2x D-10 champions Paul Deitz and Cody Nolan, Deitz is a 2x Region 4th placer.  2x regional qualifier Nick Gibson returns, Gibson had a regular season win over Godwin Nyama last season.  Other returning starters include Coleman Cousins, Jimmy Paulson, Tyree Spearman, Anthony Forne, and Kenny Rogers.

Westmont Hilltop 6 Matt Beaujon

106 Drake Dorian 9

113 Logan Blackburn  10

120 Nick Mical  9

126 Stephan Zipf  11

132 Travis Kushner  12

145 Ian Helsel  12

152 Tanner Patton  12

160 Colin Baron  10

170 Jake Stefan  12

182 Eric Kowalewski  12

195 Ryan Burnheimer  12

220 Don Shovestull  11

285 Josh Duplin  12

Josh Duplin and Ryan Burnheimer will anchor a squad that will need to find answers for the loss of Josh Polacek and Tanner Hough.  Duplin and Burnheimer both finished in the top 6 in the state last year.  For Duplin it was his second state medal and he should be looking to close out his scholastic career with a state championship.  A talented group of returning starters are coming back for the Hill Toppers including Logan Blackburn, Mike Walsh. Ian Helsel, Don Shovestull, Tanner Patton, Travis Kushner, and Stephan Zipf. The strength of the line-up will come up top with Burnheimer, Shovestull, and Duplin closing out the final 3 weight classes.

DuBois 9 Luke Bundy

106 Bryce Swauger 11

113 Austin Gahr 10

120 Anthony Vizza 12

126 Garrett Brown 11

132 Dylan Zimmerman  11

138 Jake Platt 10 or Zane Drum 11

145 Tom Sleigh 10

152 Mike Kennelly 11

160 Geno Morelli 12

170 Shane Marshall 11

182 Joe Morrison 12

195 Landon Hanna 11

220 Austin Barr  11

285 Kyle Dixon 12  or Nathan Petitti  11

DuBois may not be built for dual meet success, but they could make a bid for the regional title in March.  Geno Morelli, Pitt recruit, heads up the team on the heels of his PIAA semi-finals appearance and 5th place state finish.  Tom Sleigh was impressive in his freshman campaign qualifying for the state tournament.  Morrison and Brown came up short in their bids to make the trip to Hershey.  Vizza, Swauger, and Hanna are all capable of earning trips to the state championships.  Hanna was impressive as a sophomore last year with wins over Markel Keys, Erie Prep(region 4th) and Aaron Varner, BEA(region semi-finalist).  The Beavers may struggle to fill holes in dual meets, but there is the potential to have 5 or more wrestlers competing in Hershey when March rollsaround.

General McLane 10 Ryan Cook

106 Joe Wheeling 10

112 Keller Watkins  9

120 Ken Stoll  10

126 Dean Twitchell  10

132 Nate Ferrick 12 or Ryan Horn  10

138 Tim Wheeling  12

145 Parker McDermott  11

152 DJ Myers  12

160 Tyler Hendricks  11

170 Chris Laird  10

182 Alex Thayer  11

195 Zack Chestner  11

220 Jake Baker  11

285 Ethan Strobel 12 or Ryan Mayhue  11

The Wheeling boys are the most accomplished returning wrestlers for the Lancers.  Tim Wheeling is a 2x state qualifier narrowly missing a third trip last year finishing 4th at 125.  Joe Wheeling had an outstanding freshman season, placing 3rd at regions and earning a trip to states.  DJ Myers will look to get over the hump in his senior year and punch his ticket to Hershey.  Dean Twitchell has regional wrestling experience and Tyler Hendrick has been a regular in the GM line-up for 2 years.  Chris Laird is a talented sophomore who could make some noise.  Keller Watkins had a stellar middle school career for McLane, and will be asked to step into the varsity line-up.  Coach Cook will have a difficult time replacing his two state qualifying hammers at 215 and 285.  Caleb Baker and Travis Bryant are lost to graduation and leave big shoes to fill.

Erie Prep 10 Paul Cousins

106 Joe Ciotti 9 or Chucky Bizzarro 9

113 Jake Gromacki  10

120 Josh Caban 10 or Mike Wagner 12

126 Beau Coletta 11 or Conner Wurst 9

132 Alex Root 10

138 Dan Yori 12

145 Teagan O’Sullivan 9

152 Jordan Perkowski 11

160 Garette Chase 12

170 Dan Krysiak 11

182 Chris Smith 12

195 Hayden Foltz  11

220 Pat Williamson  11

285 Nate Carlin 11

Nobody was hit harder by graduation than Erie Prep.  3x state qualifier Tyler Parsons and 135lb region runner-up Mike McBryde have moved on.  Also lost to graduation are Grant Chase, Dave Heynoski, Markel Keys,Kris Hess, Logan Thompson, Chris Capotis, and Justin Wasmund.  Jake Gromacki looks to improve on his 8th place finish at states.  Former region qualifier Garrette Chase will attempt to make it back to Altoona after failing to qualify last year.  Former regional 4th placer Dan Yori will look to get back on track after a disappointing juniorcampaign.  3 talented freshman and 1 sophomore join the Prep team this year.  Conner Wurst and Alex Root were multiple time PJW state qualifiers while wrestling in the McDowell junior wrestling program and Teagan O’Sullivan was a PJW state qualifier for the Seneca junior wrestling program.  Freshman John Ciotti should fill in at 106 or 113, depending on where Gromacki ends up.  Ciotti was a multiple time PJW qualifier as well.
