WPIAL AA District Duals Round one WPIAL AA Team Duals Fort Cherry has been battling forfeits all season, so who would have thunk they'd be the only team with their full line-up here? Jefferson-Morgan is not quite at full strength, maybe resting some guys, and why not? B'town brought a skeleton crew, and not a very enthusiastic one at that. All Pulcini's & Fleming's, turn in yr singlets, Openbrier...just sort of mysteriously disappear (I could get no explanation for that one), and JM rolls 48-27.
Kittanning leaves the skeleton behind and comes with a ghost team dressing 8 wrestlers, no Keith Cornman, no Cody Brown, no Aaron Anthony, no hope to make a match with the Rangers who are just hitting their stride, 58-15 FC rolls.
In other action, Valley beats MP 38-33 & Keystone Oaks upends Yough 44-21, thanks to Mr Green for those very up close results.
(flash forward-One Year Later-The WPIAL is being taken over by JM, Kittanning, Yough, Bentworth, & CH...) (But now back to 2009)
You can't say there were no good matches...but you can say there no great ones! Foreman from JM beat Schilinski from B'town in a wierd 5-5 rideout, and Nick Miller loses to Bryan Vallina 10-5 (great effort by Miller).

| WPIAL AA District Duals Section II Man what a crazy great night! Thanks to qtip & the 'JPA boys for keeping the info flowing. and despite Burrell upending SSA, and the criteria match between FC & KO, I was in the right place tonight!
JM is all confidence, they are getting two forfeits, and they have a strategy, (which involves giving two back), and it doesn't work as well as you'd think, somehow it evens out the forfeit battle, and that's bad because MP acts like the seasoned vets they are, and win the battle of the non-ranked wrestlers big time, and they come away with a 40-33 victory, Hatthaway beats Pospisil 4-0 at '52.
Bentworth handles Yough pretty well on the other mat, 50-28. Travis Laing avenges one of the most bizarre losses any wrestler ever suffered last season, by pinning Joe Vahaly at 1:27, while the match was tied-Joe might not be the most successful wrestler on the mat, but he sure is hard to push around, so this was a little shocking.
So it's set up, Yough loses worse than I expected, and MP handles the Rockets. I don't get to seee the two rematches I expected.
Yough wrestles JM for third, and the Cougars have been transformed. I thought they were going to win. I even secretly found myself rooting for them as the match went on. It actually came down to the last match, and Farrar beat Bush 9-6 to give JM a narrow 37-33 win. And the 215 match, a 17-15 win by Scrip from JM over Melocchi was unreal!
Bentworth has a different strategy against Mount Pleasant-"Dodgeball"-which I guess means we put our guy out, you try to get out of the way, and good luck-it starts at 171, Kyle Wood gets a major, then Bickerstaff manages to keep his loss to five points against Anderson, but Bentworth don't read the papers, they don't care about rankngs, records, respect, and the pins begin when Tyler Cline pins Manny Casse with a flop & roll, it continues when Francis Mizia (who apparantly cost a team point, reason unknown) steps over & works the chancelor from all positions until John Peachey can't move anymore, and then two more come from behind pins by the unheralded as Nick Smydo & Zack Dyky basically outmuscle two wrestlers who pretty much gave MP their first round win. 135-Colin Sheridan shrugs Dylan Demain, but can't quite get any backs...then Double-D gets a little confidence, gets the two back, rides the legs hard, power-halves & Guillotines that don't break the 45 degree threshhold but sho do look awful painful, overtime Sheridan secures the t.d. with another shrug, 1 second to go in the 4th. Match is now over, Sheridan wins, Mizia wins, Pospisil wins, Vahaly gets forfeit.
Bentworth won 2 matches last season. Now they are the only undefeated team in the WPIAL AA. it's like turning last season's section standings upside down...I take the time to mention this to Coach Thomas after the match...I'm nice, I let my less esteemed collegues Mr Brunette & Miss Redhead ask the fluff questions ("You just won Section 2AA, where do you go now?"), but his last interview is with someone that knows the sport a little more intimately, and I appreciate his honesty, he really opened up to me more-"DODGEBALL!" (Wild look in his eyes). "YOU didn't believe in ME! YOU underestimated US" (fingers pointing agressively)-"No Coach, it was all a strategy" I responded calmly-"I know what motivates YOU, I kept you down in the rankings as a psychological strategum, so you would stay HUNGRY, I am the one responsible for TONIGHT" (he thinks it over, sees I'm right again, calms down a little) "Thanks Blondey...but that was some roll Cline had, huh? We were worried, we thought we would have to face JM again...actually we will, and Yough too, for the next couple of seasons..."I congratulate me 'ol pal once more, and as we do the parting handshake thing, I ask for a quote for the internet, he turns around, and the MAD MAN comes out again: "DODGEBALL!!!" I let it go, it's not everyday a 2 win team turns it around in one season and becomes an undefeated section champ. You're allowed to get a little BizARre. You've earned it. Maybe it could only happen in the Bizarro World anyway?

Oh yeah, some kid got thrown out for calling the security guard a rent-a-cop, or at least that had something to do with it.
