Early standouts in District 9 are from a young regime that shows a very strong freshman class and underclassmen. The Senior and Juniors that standout are of Div. I caliber at the next ranks.

Jon Marc Burdick Smethport (*Div.I caliber)
sr-#3 in state, Hickory Champion-*dec. Kyle Leek of Howland OHstate runnerup, only losses last year were to two State Champions both in triple OT, 2X National Beach Champion, teched Michigan Runnerup over the summer
Dirk Cowburn -Coudersport (jr)(Div.I caliber)
State Champion-*only 4 losses in career-freshman year and only to state champions. Has Not wrestled yet, nursing football injury.
Mark Havers Bradford (so) National Greco Champion, ready to improve on impressive freshman season.
Billy Morrison DuBois (sr) able to make noise, along with Havers, Claar and Mahan, may have chance to sweep a regional weight. ,only lost 4-2 dec. to Shirey@171

(103) Corey Bush Ridgway(fr) has started out very strong with only a 2-0 loss to TJ Stanton of DuBois, last years regional runnerup.
(103) Nathan Schwab Smethport (fr), has the advantage of live in coach in his father Coach Terry Schwab, who has helped take the program always in the win column.
(112) Kyle Caggiano Ridgway (fr), another tough Ridgway freshman that continues the Ridgway Reload method of maintaining a winning tradition. Kyle will have a very successful 4 year career.
(112) Jake Keller Curwensville (fr)5th@Penn Manor-4-2 with two pins and a major decision. Good now, with plenty of potential to become one of Curwensville's top career wins wrestlers.

Dirk Cowburn - Coudersport (JR)
Dirk Cowburn won both PA state championships in Greco Roman wrestling and Freestyle wrestling.
Dirk competed in the junior division (11th & 12th graders) in the 152-lb class for both styles although he is only a sophmore.
Heʼll go on represent team PA at the USA Wrestling national event in both styles this July, where heʼll attempt to repeat as national champion.
State Championship to go along with National Cadet Greco Championship

State Championship, another state title would ensure Dapper Dan Classic appearance, Ranked #3 in Nation by Intermat may be wrestling in the Marines, taking after former Clearfield International wrestler Tim Taylor, who recently was Olympic Team Trials Runnerup)

Only two losses came to state champions, one on triple ot to Moss of Sharon and his other loss to State Champion Gary Phaler, it was also in triple OT
Jon-Marc Burdick of Smethport won by fall over 2 time PIAA State Champion Dane Johnson at his 2nd ever Freestyle competition.
He went 5-1 at the NHSCA National duals
