Notes
This is the District 6 AA wrestling rankings and version 2 after first week and a half. They are only opinions and will definitely change throughout the season as weight changes, injuries, freshman, returning wrestlers who sat out last year and the off season workouts or lack thereof factor into the mix. These rankings are for fun and are merely for your pleasure and topic of conversation. If you feel you were slighted, I am sorry and at no time intend to slight any wrestler because as the saying goes “Once you have wrestled, everything else in life is easy”. These rankings will be updated on a bi-weekly basis throughout the season now that I have had the opportunity to check weights and wrestlers.
103-- Ryan Wilson and Ryan Dupas are clearly the top two right now. Brennan Shields has also warranted a top 5 ranking at # 3. Will add to this weight class as the season progresses but no one has either wrestled enough and/or stood out up to this point in the season.
112-- Arguably one of the strongest top 5 weights in the district this season. Link and Polacek are the clear favorites though then a fight for 3-5. Brown, Dodson and Knable complete a strong group with 3-4 potential state qualifiers in this group.
119-- This could be the thinnest group in the early part of the season but will surely get much stronger after January 15th. Brad Thomas a freshman from Cambria Heights takes the early spot at the top but it is a long season. It remains to be seen if he can stay there.
125-- Ty Dively gets the early nod based on his finish last season followed closely by Joey Stoy.
130—Pat Myers gets the early nod here although Myers and Hough would be a real barn burner. Rager is making a strong push to be mentioned among the top wrestlers at this weight.
135-- This is also an extremely deep weight class with returning state runner-up Schopp fronting the field with the ever dangerous Trevor Kushner and a rising Blake Morder and Cole Claar also in the mix.
140-- Garbinsky, Lohr, Steinberg, Brydon Need I say more!
145-- Zettle who came into his own last year and Aungst would be a wild match with John George and a few others figuring in the mix.
152-- Shawn Perich a returning state placer and Craig Harris who is rumored to have a 1 point victory over Perich during the summer, front this weight class with Marter, and Nagel providing depth.
160-- Chris Gallaher jumped up a few weight classes and appears as the front runner at this weight. Positions 2 through 5 are wide open with about 6 or 7 hard working wrestlers vying for these spots.
171-- David Kephart has returned to this weight class and with a solid off season appears ready to elevate his skills to another level. McCrum who seems like he has been around forever and an emerging Brewer from Forest Hills provide good depth.
189-- Zack Glessner and Ryan Burnheimer will vie for the top spot early on until Burnheimer drops to 171. Bear, Hornbake and Walk have also made an early season push here.
215-- With the return of Zak Newton this is an extremely strong class along with Fortson, Meier and Stuller.
285-- This is a young and extremely talented weight class with 3 of the top 5 ranked kids in the state here.
